Searching for Sugar Man - what a story!?
Coolness is also about finding the silver lining and spread good vibes forward. Are you ready to witness a totally unbelievable story? Then check out this award-winning documentary “Searching for Sugar Man” that will move you for sure! “In the late ’60s, a musician was discovered in a Detroit bar by two celebrated producers who were struck by his soulful melodies and prophetic lyrics. They recorded an album that they believed was going to secure his reputation as one of the greatest recording artists of his generation. In fact, the album failed and the singer disappeared into obscurity amid rumors of a gruesome on-stage suicide.” Did he shoot himself, or did he set himself on fire?
"A bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and, over the next two decades, it became a phenomenon. In fact, this artist sold millions and millions of albums and became bigger than Elvis Presley in South Africa, and he never even knew it. Two South African fans then set out to find out what really happened to their hero. Their investigation led them to a story more extraordinary than any of the existing myths about the artist known as Rodriguez. This is a film about hope, inspiration and the resonating power of music." Check out the movie’s facebookpage here

Helmut Newton Foundation - Berlin. Hell yeah!
I just got back from visiting the Museum of Photography - Helmut Newton exhibition. There’s no other way to say this: if you’re in Berlin and up for some cultural hours this will blow your mind! The Museum has dedicated a huge space in 2 floors to this guy, and I know why. What an amazing life - and lifestyle - Mr. Newton brought to the rest of us. Nudity and style shots from when men were men and women were women, shown in such class and absolute attitude that screams out to everyone, that here’s a guy that saw the world through his very own eyes and fantasies - and he didn’t give a flying f**k how the conventional way of life worked. At the museum they have mocked-up a part of his livingroom and you clearly see his fascination with Eames and especially his need to be both highly stylish and a bit quirky at the same time. Nice lines, great colors and patterns and items you’d never seen before but so much like to have at home - a life-size and nude mannequin dancer who puts up a show with a handstand up against the wall and flirty position with bare breasts and jewelry. Nice!
Walk around and take in all of his many photo’s from the different era’s, it’s so flamboyant, sassy and classy that yours truly ended up buying both a book of his and 3 unique posters for my own livingroom. See the world from the late 60’s to the year 2000 through the eyes of this master of photography and you walk out the museum greatly inspired!
Btw you’re not allowed to take pictures when inside the exhibition, so don’t get caught :-)

Springtime is Petanque (Boule) time!
Now we’re heading for the time of year where we all hunger for summer and what better way to celebrate this with a trip to the park with friends and family - carrying a Petanque set and a couple of bottles of bubblies? Forget all about the cheap kid’s games in colorful plastic and Hello Kitty frenzy. Instead you need a classy adult case set in sweet design that you really like having under your arm going to the park. This particular Petanque set on the pic here is Danish design from the famous designhouse Skagerak (Trip Trap) and is available at the online shop with free delivery across Europe right here. Every detail matters and great quality and design for your game day setup is paramount, you know it is :-)
Some say that playing in style equals being “the bigger man” even if you lose. Nonsense, just get into it fullblown and let the games begin! :-)
If you need a brush-up on the Petanque gamle rules here’s a link to the specifics. Now, get to the park and start having fun - it’s springtime people!

Copenhagen Ink Festival is around the corner!
Once again the biggest tattoo convention in Scandinavia is held in Copenhagen May 9th - 11th 2013. Are you a tat-freak or simply a bit fascinated by the arts this is the place to be. I was there last year and let me tell you - what a scene! More than a 100 different tattoo wizards from across the world is gathered here. This means you have a golden opportunity to get ink done by some of the best artists from maybe NYC, Barcelona or London - right there in Copenhagen. Of course the best from Scandinavia is also present. But it’s not all about getting ink done or acquiring new piercings, it’s also about mingling, getting inspired and enjoying some beers and kicking off a party. The Ink Festival is known for providing a great atmosphere - last year the world famous “Zombie Boy” (the guy that’s tattooed all over including a skull in the face) made a big appearance among the crowd and mingled. During the evening an award show is held where the best tattoos of the day is being honored - and last year a monster Burlesque show took place during the late hours, it was awesome. I bet this year will be awesome too!
Certainly the “art” of tattoos is a question of individual taste but if you are into ink - you need to check this out in STYLE :-)

Early morning over Prague
I shot this photo when I was taking a break from running across all of the beautiful bridges in Prague City. I knew of this building - The Dancing House - but I had no idea that I was going to run into it that morning. I had to make a stop and simply just stand there and enjoy the moment. I asked a local woman about the building, she saw me taking photos, and she told me that many people and turists call it for “Fred & Ginger”. Sweet I guess. Walking around good old Fred and Ginger I really saw what amazing features this building shows - and why indeed it’s called The Dancing House.
It’s so cool how architecture sometimes kicks you in the gut and tells you that maybe, just maybe you should give your own home interior design thoughts a break - and step out and gather true inspiration from your city’s own architecture. I bet whereever you live your city has a lot of hidden treasures as well. So let’s look up and see the world around us - happy trails everyone!

A true (drunken) story from Fashion Week 2013
When Copenhagen Fashion Week sorta dominated the city earlier this year, the whole city was humming with great expectations to getting a voyeurish kick of coolness - and it was tempting to either don’t give a flying f#%! or try to get all overexcited. I did neither. Instead I got a very spontaneous front seat Fashion Week experience with free beer and funny talks along the catwalk. A company “Cosy Friday Bar” turned into lounge-drinks that turned into mingling with Fashion Week models that turned into getting names on the list to the front seat show that night. We were a bunch of guys who suddenly showed up and cruised around the event, mingled, smalltalked, cracked jokes and had a few smokes in a top cool environment (non-smoking though, ahem). All of the years I’d looked upon Fashion Week as a waste of time for over-pretentious wannabe’s that desperately needed guidance just to figure out what they had to put on in the morning. Little did I know that the whole Fashion Week feeling was fun and full of life - and a strange smell of weed in some places. I found out that my own style or lack thereof was no stranger around the seating area, I spotted a handful that feverishly looked around either so much hoping to be seen - or really hoping not to be seen. I wasn’t alone in not knowing if I fitted in. Anyways, style is individual and thank God for that.
This is just to say that sometimes the best thing you can do is to simply shoot all of your inhibitions and “eager to be cool”-thinking down the drain. Remember that the best way to owning your personal style is to find the path that might bring you a bit out of your usual comfort zone and make you smile! Peace out :-)

70 years old and rocking hard!
Late one Saturday night in the outskirts of Copenhagen in a somewhat dodgy neighbourhood in an even more questionable zip code myself and some of the guys made a pitstop at this local waterhole we passed by in search of a barkeep who knew how to pour an original Eiffel Pitcher. A rock’n’roll mix of certain spirits and dark beer. Well, we were just chillaxing at the bar area kicking up smalltalk and cheers all around. All in all feeling fine and just looking for a feel-good night away from the pretentious bright lights big city cocktail bars. Sometimes it pays off to wander off the usual trail. This night did too. Suddenly I was “friendly-fronted” by a super cool dude who immediately threw me a high five though he’d never laid eyes on me before. At the same time I started to pay attention to the charisma of this fellow and OMG was he hanging with style! He was dressed in a black Adidas trainer flashing jewelry and great karma. The thing is he had just passed 70 and sat there with his semi-long gray hair and his accessories and was having a blast. We started talking and he told me a bit about his life and his view on “being old”. I was in awe. Never before had I ever witnessed such a vibrant and appealing “old dude” who really made me think: when I hit 70 I’m gonna rule the city and spread good feeling all around too!
Diamonds and jewelry may be a girl’s best friend but I promise you, it’s also a back-alley cat’s natural get-up. So just give it a go, and accessorize - it’ll pay off when you’re old :-)

A moose and a strange dwarf-parrot went into a bar?!
Have you ever heard that joke? Well, I’m not sure how it actually goes, but I’m sure that a glowing moose on the wall is pretty damn awesome! This photo is my view from my desk at work. Don’t know how or who put the fake budgerigar on top, and don’t wanna know, all I know is, that I so much need this MOO lamp at home ;-) It’s a bit vulgar and at the same time odd enough to be a bit cute. The light is soft and cosy just like I like it and the moose itself - well just look at it for crying out loud! It’s awesomeness reincarnated. It’s the MOO lamp from Northern Lighting if you’re curious. I’m no hunter but I am inclined to give props to great interior decorating when it’s due. And you should too.
